Flashbug news

Hello all,

It’s been sometime since my last post and to be honest my life have been quite hectic and busy. So updates to my apps and flashbug have slowed down quite a bit. I have a big update coming for Flashbug which when i started was targeted for Firebug 1.7. I’m aiming to release it still targetting 1.7 and at a later date updating it for 1.8. Firebug 1.8 changed how plug-ins work so Flashbug has some issues working with it right now, but I just want to get Flashbug 1.8 out the door so i can get on to those issues.

I’ve also gotten (over the past months) a lot of email about traces and errors showing up, and the common issue stems from their use of Flashfirebug. Flashfirebug completely rewrites the mm.cfg file and screws up Flashbug. You cannot use both plugins at the same time becuase of this. If your mm.cfg file is screwed up, just open Flashbug’s preference window and hit ok and this will rewrite it again according to Flashbug. Flashbug 1.8 has a lot of the same functionality as Flashfirebug which is why i’m working hard to get it out the door. So hopefully in the future this will be a moot point. Thanks again for your interest in Flashbug!

Hello,

This is a great plugin that I have been usied from the first version. Just right now, this is not compatible with FF6.0. It’ll be great if you can tell a quick solution.

Flashbug 1.8 has already been submitted to Mozilla for review and it support Firebug 1.8 and Firefox 5/6. I’m just waiting for it to be reviewed before it’ll be posted for official download. As flpldev noted, you can find it already apparently under ‘View all versions’

Hi, the new version is amazing, very usefull the decompiler and the inspector panels. One issue im having is that when a swf has a preloader, in the inspector panel only shows the preloader, and not the loaded swf. It works ok (shows me both files) on the decompiler panel.

The reason why you only see one is because the main.swf is loaded INTO the preloader.swf. Only the preloader swf is embedded in the HTML. You can get to the main.swf by looking for the Loader within the preloader.swf.

Hello, i’ve got a new mac, and when i installed the flashbug plugin it wasn’t showing me the traces output, so i clicked to check the preferences and an alert poup always shows before the preferences, showing the following error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code:

0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIProperties.get]” nsresult: “0×80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)” location: “JS frame :: chrome://flashbug/content/lib.js :: :: line 668″ data: no]

And in preferences there is no path to mm.cfg or flashlog.txt and i can’t enter e new one… can you help me?
