Flashbug 1.5 Details
Just wanted to write about some of the new features coming in Flashbug 1.5. First off I’d like to say thanks for making Flashbug as popular as it is. It’s not even a public extension and it’s already gotten over 3,000 downloads! I know that’s not a lot compared to others, but that’s a milestone for me =) .
As for Flashbug 1.5, it’s pretty much feature complete at this point and just want to test it some more before putting it up on AMO. Some of the new features you can look forward to are:
- Inspect Shared Objects for SWFs loaded in the page.
- Inspect AMF remoting Requests* in the Net Panel
* Currently Firefox( or possibly Firebug) won’t allow me to grab the Response data from the server. So this feature is fully implemented but only half works at the moment)
- Open the Trace/Policy log directly from the Flash Console
- Fixed some regex issues highlighting URLs in the logs
Please let me know in the comments if there is anything else missing you’d like to see in Flashbug. If it’s small I might be able to toss it in this release, otherwise it might have to wait. I think the only feature I have yet to start on is custom filters for traces, which I will eventually get to so be patient.

I have encountering a serrious issue when using Flashbug on Ubuntu 9.10 with Firefox 3.5 and version 10 of the Flash debugger. After using the plugin for around 20 minutes firefox will freeze and my CPU goes to 100%. The only recourse is to kill the process and restart firefox. The only thing I can think of is that it happens when there is a flash applet in more than one tab. If I am using it in one single tab it seems fine all day long, but when I have multiple tabs open the error occurs. The issue started when I installed Flasbug and stopped once I disabled it. I would really appreaciate it if this was fixed as I love the program and still use it even with the periodic freezes.
